Silk was born Silk was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Ilkay Silk is the daughter Peter Silk, a professor as well as Anna Silk who is an actor, director and producer. She is also a playwright. Anna is able to recall certain memories she had as a child, including seeing her mother work during play rehearsals. Silk produced a number of commercials when she was still in the midst of her childhood. Silk was a graduate of St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas was involved in at least two early theater productions which included Seven Menus (1997) and The Kitchen (1999). Silk relocated out of Toronto to Los Angeles in the decade after 1999. She met her soon-to-be spouse, Seth Cooperman, at an actor's training located in Los Angeles, in 2007. They got married at the civil ceremony on the 10th of December 2009, after becoming engaged. They renewed their vows April 10th of 2011 in Fredericton in the aftermath of their converted to Judaism.
